ArmInfo. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MESCS) of Armenia Alfred Kocharyan and philanthropist David Tonoyan signed a memorandum of cooperation on the preservation and restoration of the Havuts Tar monastery complex in the Kotayk region.
The press service of the MESCS told ArmInfo that the parties intend to join forces to preserve and restore the historical and cultural monument in accordance with Armenian legislation. "This is an effective and exemplary model of public-private partnership. I immensely appreciate this cooperation aimed at preserving our cultural heritage," Kocharyan noted, thanking the partners for their joint and responsible work.
According to the agreement, the MESCS will review the complex's scientific and design documentation and provide an appropriate conclusion. "The Ministry will coordinate the submitted working projects, securing permits for strengthening, repair, and restoration work, and will also provide professional and legal advice throughout the process," the ministry added.
The philanthropist, in turn, according to the Ministry, will, at his own expense, fund a study of the monument and the development of design and estimate documentation, followed by the submission of these materials to the Ministry for approval. "Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Science will be provided with the author's and technical supervision agreements, as well as agreements concluded with contractors," the ministry concluded.
