ArmInfo. On the occasion of Yerevan's 2808th anniversary, celebrated on October 10, the opposition party "Strong Armenia" addressed its compatriots.
"We congratulate all of us on the 2808th anniversary of Yerevan, our beloved capital. Beginning its journey from the depths of centuries and striving for the future, our old and new Yerevan is an extraordinary city, the home of each of us, the capital of all Armenians, the center of national aspirations, historical memory, and political will of Armenians around the world. Yerevan is the heart of our country, a living testimony to our history, culture, and statehood, the historical face of which must be preserved with special respect and care. Yerevan is a city of love. The people of Yerevan want peace. Peace is possible for our beloved Yerevan and Armenia." Today, more than ever, we must clearly state that "Strong Armenia" works every day for a strong Yerevan. Strong Yerevan
- the capital of a strong Armenia. A capital where people live a prosperous and dignified life, one that constantly develops and thrives for the sake of future generations. At the heart of all this is peace without compromise. This is our commitment, our political position, and our strategic goal. Yerevan must become the driving force and center of our state's rise, its self-confidence, and its future victories. Yerevan must be a city where everyone feels safe and lives in dignity and comfort. Happy holiday, beloved capital of all Armenians. Happy holiday, Yerevan," the address reads.
Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the "Strong Armenia" party, also congratulated his compatriots. "Happy holiday, capital Yerevan!" It's impossible not to love Yerevan.
For its history, its unique character, and the warmth of its people. Our Yerevan has always been open to the world, but it has never lost its Armenian character and identity. These have been preserved by the people of Yerevan themselves – through their care for their hometown, their hard work, and their ability to overcome difficult times with dignity. Yerevan's 2,808-year history is our pride, Armenians, and its future is our responsibility. Yerevan exists not only to be enjoyed. To love it also means to care for it, preserve it, and make it more beautiful. Our capital deserves big-picture thinking and great projects. We must put an end to urban terrorism, preserve the soul of old Yerevan, and build a modern, green, economically strong city in which it is comfortable to live, work, and raise children. One thing remains constant: Yerevan is more than just a city. It has been and will remain the center of thought, culture, strength, and great change for all Armenians. And our capital, transformed from Erebuni to Yerevan, will never become Erivan. Happy holiday, capital Yerevan!"
The Russian Embassy in Armenia also congratulated the people of Yerevan. "We wish the capital of Armenia to maintain its unique character, combining a rich historical heritage with cutting-edge achievements, and we wish the people of Yerevan good fortune and prosperity!" the message read.
