
ArmInfo. The Prosperous Armenia Party announced the establishment of an international award named after businessman and politician Gagik Tsarukyan.
As PAP press secretary Iveta Tonoyan stated at a press conference on October 9, the award was established by the Council for the Defense of Gagik Tsarukyan and Other Political Prisoners and is timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Armenia's independence.
According to Tonoyan, the award will be phenomenal in terms of geography and the number of nominations. "Organizations and figures from Armenia and abroad are invited to participate in the competition. The following nominations are available: Friend of the Armenian People (for foreign figures or organizations that carry out significant activities in the international arena for the benefit of the Armenian people); Defender of Rights; "The award will be presented in the following categories: Freedom Defender (the nomination concerns individuals engaged in protecting the rights of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan), Unity of the Armenian World, Social Impact and Humanism, as well as a special nomination, "Rosa Tsarukyan" (Gagik Tsarukyan's mother)," Tonoyan read out the nominations.
According to her, other details regarding the award will be announced next week.
As a reminder, according to the indictment, Gagik Tsarukyan is accused of committing crimes under several articles of the Criminal Code relating to fraud, extortion, and money laundering. The head of the Multi Group concern, Aleksey Kozlov, is also charged in this case. Sedrak Arustamyan and seven others.
The Investigative Committee believes that Tsarukyan and others falsified customs declarations and documents, resulting in significant damage to the state or the entities involved (including instances of theft of property worth approximately 8.1 billion drams). On July 7, 2026, a Yerevan court ordered Gagik Tsarukyan's pretrial detention for two months. The politician's defense attempted to appeal the decision.
In October 2026, the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Armenia, based on decisions of the Anti-Corruption Court, imposed a large-scale seizure of property and assets associated with Tsarukyan. Approximately 29 real estate properties, 33 vehicles, and 488 units of movable property were seized. A separate ban on changes in ownership was imposed on Tsarukyan's properties in the coastal area of Lake Sevan. Seizures have also been placed on Tsarukyan's shares in 27 different companies, as well as on the shares and stocks of 40 legal entities associated with him.
