


ArmInfo. Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are preparing to ensure security at events during the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17).
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a working meeting chaired by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan was devoted to this topic. Representatives of services subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the police, the leadership of the rescue service, and the Ministry of Environment, participated in the meeting.
Arpine Sargsyan emphasized the importance of properly ensuring public safety during such a significant event for Armenia.
Chief of Police Kamo Tsutsulyan and Director of the Rescue Service Aram Ghazaryan reported to the Minister on the measures taken and being implemented by their units in the lead-up to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. The heads of the services presented the work being carried out to ensure security at the conference venues, along the main routes, and in adjacent areas, maintain public order, organize traffic, and prevent potential emergencies. Issues related to the proper organization of the service's work, personnel management, and the interaction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' subdivisions were discussed.
The Minister gave instructions on maintaining public order, ensuring security, and effectively organizing the rescue service. At the same time, Arpine Sargsyan instructed the public to be properly informed about traffic restrictions, maintain constant contact with those responsible for security issues within the framework of COP-17, and regularly report on the progress of security measures.
As a reminder, the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will be held in Yerevan from October 19 to 30, 2026. The main theme of the forum will be "Taking action for nature." More than 15,000 delegates from 196 countries are expected to arrive.
