ArmInfo. Artur Danielyan, the leader of the socio-political initiative "Adekvad," and activist, has been detained. Lawyer Tigran Atanesyan announced this on his Facebook page.
According to him, Danielyan is being held for delivery to court for the purpose of arrest. "Artur Danielyan has been detained for delivery to court. He is charged with a moderate offense under paragraph 3, part 2, of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (hooliganism) for a Facebook post," the lawyer wrote.
Earlier, Danielyan wrote on his Facebook page that he was summoned to the Investigative Committee of Armenia this morning. He reported that a case had been opened against him. "They are going to bring charges against me. I don't know what exactly they are talking about, and it doesn't matter. If I leave the investigator's office, I will comment on all this live. "But the scheme is actually very primitive," the activist wrote.
According to him, for three days in a row, Azerbaijanis have been distributing his speeches and threatening him. "They found my old speeches, translated them, and are distributing them. For three days in a row, they have been threatening me with violence in comments and private messages. This is their method of punishment. And these authorities received orders from Baku and are carrying them out," Danielyan stated.
He expressed conviction that this is an attempt to intimidate others who oppose the current government in Armenia.
Notably, the day before, the activist harshly criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, commenting on his interview with Infocom. Specifically, Danielyan called the Armenian prime minister a "degenerate." After Pashinyan stated that he did not intend to exchange the Azerbaijani serviceman for one of the Armenian prisoners of war.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia confirmed Danielyan's detention, also reporting that he was charged under paragraph 3, part 2, Article 297 of the Armenian Criminal Code (hooliganism committed using information or communication technologies - ed.). The Investigative Committee of Armenia did not provide any further details.
