


ArmInfo. 70 paintings confiscated from former Finance Minister and former head of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan will now be available to the public. This was announced in a statement by the press service of the RA Investigative Committee.
According to the source, Investigative Committee Chairman Artur Poghosyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, and Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan visited the National Gallery of Armenia, where they viewed an exhibition of paintings confiscated from Gagik Khachatryan. The agency's statement emphasized that all paintings were handed over to the gallery as a result of investigative actions. These cultural treasures will now be open to the public.
The department recalled that a total of 70 paintings seized and examined during the criminal proceedings against Gagik Khachatryan were recognized as material evidence by a decision of September 11, 2026, and transferred to the National Gallery for safekeeping.
It should be noted that former Finance Minister and former head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan is accused of receiving a large bribe from the management of commercial organizations (including Progress Armenia LLC and Local Developers LLC), money laundering by legalizing funds on an especially large scale (including cases involving 151.1 million drams and other financial schemes), embezzlement, and illegal acquisition of property, including a 451.1 square meter building belonging to Bryusov University on Pushkin Street. On September 1, 2026, he was detained and arrested by the court for a period of two months.
