ArmInfo. Former National Assembly member Hayk Sargsyan has been expelled from the ruling Civil Contract party. The decision was made at a party board meeting chaired late yesterday evening by Board Chairman and RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"By decision of the board, Hayk Sargsyan and Avetik Ordyan have been expelled from the Civil Contract party. Other agenda items were also discussed,"
the party's statement reads.
As a reminder, Hayk Sargsyan previously made harsh statements and accused government officials of involvement in corrupt deals. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the disagreements are related to a number of circumstances, including the use of illegal license plates, illegal business on the shores of Lake Sevan, and involvement in illegal sand mining. According to Armenian media, a criminal case has been opened against Hayk Sargsyan and individuals associated with him, and investigations have been conducted against several law enforcement officials.
The proposal for expulsion came from the Civil Contract Supervisory Committee and was supported by the board on October 6, 2026. Avetik Ordyan was also expelled from the party along with him.
