ArmInfo. The opposition “Strong Armenia” faction of the National Assembly of Armenia intends to initiate the creation of another investigative group in the country’s parliament, which will study incidents on the border and the situation in the country’s armed forces. Faction Secretary Tigran Abramyan stated this on October 6 during a plenary session of the National Assembly.
According to him, it is unacceptable when an Azerbaijani serviceman infiltrates Armenian territory, and it was only thanks to the heroism of an Armenian woman that a major tragedy was prevented.
“Taking into account the fact that cases of suicide in the army have also increased in recent months, ‘Strong Armenia’ will today propose creating an investigative commission to study the incident that occurred in the village of Shaki, as well as the increased number of suicides in the army in recent months,” Abramyan noted.
It should be recalled that at the beginning of October 2026, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan was detained on the territory of Armenia. The detainee is Azerbaijani army serviceman Nasimi Musayev. According to information from the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, he arbitrarily left his place of service on September 26, 2026. On September 29, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan notified the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia about the soldier’s disappearance and possible border crossing. October 2026 at approximately 14:15 in the village of Shaki (Syunik Province), the serviceman entered a residential house, opened fire and wounded a 38-year-old local woman in the leg. The woman’s life is not in danger; her condition is stable. On the same day, Armenian security agencies detained Nasimi Musayev. A court in Armenia ordered him held in pretrial detention for a period of 2 months. The Investigative Committee of Armenia opened a criminal case. He is charged with illegal border crossing, smuggling and illegal arms trafficking, violation of the inviolability of a residence, as well as causing serious bodily harm. Against the backdrop of the incident, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dismissed NSS Deputy Director David Sanamyan.
