ArmInfo. By a decision of the Court of Appeals, legendary commander of the Sisakan detachment, Ashot Minasyan, has been released from custody. Former Armenian Dashnaktsakan MP Garnik Danielyan announced this on his Facebook page.
"Dear compatriots, several days ago, when I congratulated the commander on his birthday on my page, noting that Minasyan is so free that it is impossible to suppress him by imprisoning him, you joined in with hundreds of comments and wished him freedom. Today, this wish has become a reality."
Our daily reflections, our raising of questions, and public attention are extremely important. "Freedom for all political prisoners and Armenian captives held in Baku," Danielyan noted.
As a reminder, Ashot Minasyan was sentenced to two years in prison on October 16, 2025, for the illegal acquisition, transportation, and storage of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and explosive devices. The Criminal Court of Appeals partially upheld the appeal of the Prosecutor General's Office and amended the verdict of the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Syunik region on December 26, 2024, overturning the court's decision to suspend the sentence imposed on Ashot Minasyan.
It is worth noting that Ashot Minasyan is the commander of the legendary Sisakan detachment, which made an invaluable contribution to victories in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
