


ArmInfo. During a working visit to Serbia, Armenian Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan met with the Minister of Justice of the Republic, Nenad Vujić.
According to the press service of the Ombudsman's Office, the meeting focused on human rights protection and justice, with a particular focus on ensuring the rights of persons deprived of their liberty and improving the penitentiary system.
The parties exchanged views on the conditions of detention of persons deprived of their liberty and the construction of penitentiary institutions in both countries, as well as on the proper protection of human rights in closed institutions. Particular attention was paid to the protection of children's rights and human rights education.
Manasyan presented the mandate and main areas of work of the Human Rights Defender, also providing a detailed account of the Ombudsman's activities as a national preventive mechanism, monitoring visits to closed institutions, and the work carried out to protect the rights of persons deprived of their liberty. At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of exchanging professional experience and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
