ArmInfoThe Armenian authorities, not the opposition, should respond to the statement by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. Aram Vardevanyan, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction of the Strong Armenia bloc, told journalists on October 5.
As a reminder, according to Medvedev, Armenia's change in foreign policy will not lead to positive consequences. The most negative scenario for the republic would be its "transformation into a new Ukraine." "The current Armenian leadership considered it right to change the vector of its development. I am sure that this will not lead to anything good either." "The worst thing that could happen to Armenia is its transformation into a new Ukraine," Medvedev said in an interview with the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Russian media.
In this regard, Vardevanyan noted that if the "Strong Armenia" bloc were in power, then, as a result of working with all geopolitical centers, such a statement would not have been made at all. "It is the current authorities who must respond to this. It is a fact that the foreign policy of the Armenian state should be structured in such a way that such statements are avoided, so that dialogue is based on the logic of "either" or "or." For this reason, I do not believe it is our responsibility to evaluate this statement. "Ultimately, the state's foreign policy is developed and implemented by the current authorities," the opposition figure emphasized.
He added that if one analyzes the authorities' words and actions in the area of foreign policy, one cannot help but notice their contradictory nature.
