ArmInfo. Today, October 5th, Armenia celebrates Teacher's Day.
In her address, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan congratulated teachers and emphasized that education is one of the most important areas shaping the country's future, and teachers are at the very center of this mission. "In recent years, the education system has undergone extensive reforms aimed at creating a higher-quality, modern, and student-centered educational environment. The real driving force behind these changes are you, the teachers who come to the classroom every day, impart knowledge, shape thinking, and stimulate children's curiosity. Your work is the change that is transferred from educational programs and documents into the classroom and becomes a reality. Today, the world is changing rapidly, and the teacher's mission is becoming increasingly responsible. We need an education that not only imparts knowledge but also develops thinking, independent, and skilled individuals ready for change. The state will continue to invest in improving schools, enhancing teachers' qualifications, and encouraging them to find employment. We are also committed to creating and developing social security mechanisms that will strengthen teacher protections and empower them to work with greater confidence, dignity, and effectiveness. This path requires time, consistency, and concerted effort, but our goal is clear: to have an education system where teachers are valued, students have the opportunity to fully develop their abilities, and where schools are the most important pillars of the country's development. Dear teachers, your work is an investment, the results of which we will see not only today but also years from now—in the achievements of our children, their elections, and the future of our country. "Let every class, every student, and every success remind you how important your work is," the head of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture said in a statement.
As a reminder, Teachers' Day in Armenia is celebrated on October 5, coinciding with World Teachers' Day. Previously, the holiday was celebrated in Armenia on the first Saturday of October. In 2010, the Armenian government decided to officially move the date to October 5, combining it with the international holiday.
