During a meeting with a delegation led by the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in the country, Hasan Khalil, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, noted the importance of cooperation between the Ombudsman and UNICEF in addressing key issues related to children's rights.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ombudsman's Office, Manasyan emphasized that protecting children's rights is an important priority for the Human Rights Defender, noting that children's rights can never be considered secondary to other areas of rights.
She also emphasized the need to change public perception, noting the key role of UNICEF in this process.
In her speech, the Human Rights Defender mentioned one of the important results of cooperation with UNICEF – the activities of the Public Council for the Protection of Children's Rights under the Human Rights Defender, praising it as one of the best practices. in ensuring children's voices are heard, guaranteeing their participation, and effectively addressing sectoral issues.
In turn, Hasan Khalili expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the role of the Ombudsman's Office in implementing the mission to protect children's rights.
The parties also exchanged views on current and future areas of cooperation with staff of the Armenian Human Rights Office and discussed a number of other issues related to the protection of children's rights.
