


ArmInfo. On October 1, 2026, a consultation meeting was held at the Natural Gas Research Institute in Ashgabat to review international standards and norms for reducing methane emissions.
The meeting was organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan as part of the project "European Union for Green Development of Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024 - 2029," co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by GIZ.
Representatives of the Mejlis, relevant ministries, and agencies of Turkmenistan participated in the meeting.
The meeting is aimed at further developing recommendations for improving the country's regulatory framework, taking into account national development priorities in this area. Legal and technical specialists from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit state concerns participated in the meeting.
The consultation meeting discussed the application of an analytical approach to reviewing Turkmenistan's regulatory framework for its further development in line with recognized modern international practices (including the EU Regulation on the Reduction of Methane Emissions in the Energy Sector).
The meeting helped lay a clear methodological foundation for adapting best international practices to Turkmenistan's national conditions.
