ArmInfo. The pre-trial detention measure against Alik Aleksanyan, co-founder of the Strong Armenia party, has been replaced by house arrest for a period of 3 months.
As a reminder, according to a statement from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Alik Aleksanyan, in order to attract participants to the events and meetings of the Strong Armenia party and the Po-Nashemu movement, fictitiously employed approximately 1,400 citizens in the offices of the Po-Nashemu NGO from September 2025 to May 2026, based on service contracts, more than 400 of whom also worked part-time at other companies. He is accused of money laundering.
Immediately after the court decision, the Strong Armenia party The party issued a statement noting that the court's decision followed the publication by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe of a report, "On the Observation Mission to the Parliamentary Elections in Armenia," which documented instances of political pressure and persecution of opponents by the authorities. The mitigation of Alik Aleksanyan's pretrial detention is only the first step toward restoring his full freedom. The party believes that true justice requires a complete closure of this politically motivated and fabricated case and the lifting of any pretrial detention measures. We reiterate that the criminal prosecutions carried out at the behest of the authorities are aimed at silencing opposition figures and crushing political resistance, but this is not succeeding. No illegal arrest or administrative pressure can break the resolve of the Strong Armenia party. We will continue our consistent fight for the full acquittal of Alik Aleksyan and the restoration of the principles of the rule of law in Armenia," the statement reads.
