ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee of Armenia reported the arrest of screenwriter Vahram Sahakyan. He is charged with inciting hatred.

According to the Investigative Committee's press service, on January 8, 2025, V.S. posted a message on his Facebook page aimed at "inciting and promoting hatred, intolerance, and enmity." The Investigative Committee noted that, according to an expert opinion received on September 1, 2026, the message contains "signs of hatred."

On September 29, the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against V.S. under paragraph 3, part 2, article 202. Article 329 of the Criminal Code (public statements aimed at inciting or promoting hatred, intolerance, or hostility, as well as dissemination of corresponding materials using the media or information and communications technologies).

Note that the maximum penalty under this article is up to four years' imprisonment. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
