ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received the newly appointed French Ambassador to the Republic, Florian Escudier, and discussed prospects for intensifying trade and economic relations between the countries.
According to the Armenian government's press service, the importance of the European Union (EU) adopting temporary trade liberalization measures was emphasized. They also exchanged views on the possibilities of expanding the presence of French-owned companies in the Armenian economy. The parties also touched upon regional development issues.
During the meeting, the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister also congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his important work. Grigoryan emphasized the importance of Armenia's strategic partnership with France and expressed hope that the ambassador would contribute to the further deepening of this cooperation.
On September 24, the Council of the European Union (EU) officially approved temporary trade liberalization measures, providing for the abolition of duties on 80% of Armenian exports. The Council's decision noted that the liberalization measures are aimed at supporting the Armenian economy following trade restrictions imposed by Russia.
