Former MP: The authorities have set themselves the goal of holding on to power for as long as possible, and this path will still bring new threats and serious dangers.

ArmInfo.  The adventurism unleashed by the current ruler of Armenia in relation to the Armenian Apostolic Church has reached such a level of abomination and immorality that various international structures and organizations have already issued corresponding statements and public messages. Former member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Abrahamyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.

According to him, no matter how much the current authorities exploit the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) factor in various operations against third countries,

No matter how much they trade Armenian interests for the geopolitical priorities of others, one thing is certain: they do not respect the authorities in this position.

"I am sure they know all this, but they have set themselves the goal of holding on to power as long as possible, and this path has brought and will continue to bring new threats and serious dangers," the former member of parliament noted.

It should be noted that the conflict between the Armenian authorities, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the leadership of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) entered a new phase following the publication of a government report on the crisis in the church on September 24. Nikol Pashinyan declared that the Armenian Apostolic Church has been "captured" by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II (Ktrich Nersisyan) and a group of his supporters. The authorities accuse the church's leadership of a systemic crisis and insist on changing the rules of governance, adopting a new charter, and establishing the state's "decisive role" in electing the Catholicos. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin views the government's actions as gross interference in the internal affairs of a religious organization and an attack on the church's 1,700-year-old autonomy. The conflict has escalated sharply amid protest movements in the country led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, a member of the clergy. Pashinyan has openly spoken about the need for Garegin II's resignation and reform of the church structure.
