Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan received a delegation of the Council of the EU Working Group on Eastern Europe and Central Asia, which included representatives of more than two dozen EU member states, the European External Action Service, and the European Commission.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a detailed discussion of current issues on the Armenia-EU relations agenda took place during the meeting.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the Armenian government's commitment to deepening the partnership with the EU in accordance with the law adopted by the National Assembly of Armenia on the launch of Armenia's accession process to the European Union.
The parties emphasized the importance of effectively implementing the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the "Strategic Agenda for the Armenia-EU Partnership" document, and discussed prospects for developing cooperation in the security sector.
They also touched upon the issue of Armenia-EU partnership in the field of connectivity, including the importance of integrating Armenia into regional transport networks and developing inclusive connectivity.
Kostanyan presented steps aimed at strengthening Armenia's economic resilience, highlighting the recent adoption of EU regulations granting Armenia trade preferences. This makes Armenia the only country without EU candidate status or a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement to receive such economic benefits.
The delegation was presented with steps aimed at institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the opportunities for regional cooperation opened by the establishment of peace.
