Poll: About 65% of respondents believe the presence of a Russian base   in Armenia is necessary 

ArmInfo.Approximately 65% of respondents believe that the 102nd Russian military base should remain in Armenia. This was announced by Aram Navasardyan, Director of MPG LLC (MPG), a full member of the international GALLUP association in Armenia, at a press conference in Yerevan on September 25, presenting the survey results.  According to him, the survey was conducted through telephone calls to residents of the Republic of  Armenia from September 22 to September 24, with a sample size of 1,001 people.

The question recalled that after the meeting between Russian  President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  on September 1, the Russian President stated that "if Armenia so  desires, Russia will withdraw the 102nd Russian military base from  Armenian territory." Respondents were asked which option they  believed would be most beneficial for Armenia and its people.

According to him, 39.7% believe the Russian base is necessary to  ensure the country's security, while 24.7% believe the Russian base  should remain in the country, but the terms of its presence should be  revised. "Thus, approximately 65% of respondents believe the Russian  base should remain in Armenia. 28.9% noted that Russia should  withdraw the base from Armenia, while 6.8% were undecided,"  Navasardyan noted.  As a reminder, during a briefing on September 3,  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Armenian  authorities had never raised the issue of withdrawing the 102nd  Russian military base from the country, but that if Russia decided to  take this step, Yerevan would not object. He assured that the  Armenian authorities do not see the base as vitally necessary. He  stated this in response to a request to comment on Russian President  Vladimir Putin's words about his readiness to withdraw the 102nd base  from Armenia "even tomorrow."
