ARF: The Armenian people are facing a fateful turning point

Today, the Armenian people face a fateful turning point: either form a national government, change the country's anti-national course, and make Armenia truly Armenian, or allow Armenia to become Turkified as a result of this process. This was stated by Armen Rustamyan, a representative of the ARF Bureau, at the official opening ceremony of the Hay Dat Conference of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party.

According to him, as a result of the recent military actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh, the military-political balance in the South Caucasus has significantly changed. In the current situation, it is necessary to conduct a complete reassessment of the threats facing the Armenian people and the newly emerging challenges in order to build future programs and actions on this foundation. If, prior to these military actions, the Hay Dat structures operated from a vantage point, valuing and strengthening the results of the Armenian victory in the Artsakh Liberation War, now they are forced to face the grave consequences of defeat and overcome newly emerging challenges.

"Furthermore, today the primary tasks of Armenians and our structures are the preservation of Armenian identity, Armenian statehood and sovereignty, the protection of the inalienable rights of the Armenian people and their generations, and the prevention of the Turkification of Armenia. Turkification is not just an artistic formulation, but a concrete description of Armenia's political, economic, and overall multi-layered and multifaceted dependence on the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. This is precisely when Armenia becomes a nominally existing, but de facto completely dependent, annexed state of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Today, the struggle to resolve the Hay Dat issues, in addition to external obstacles, unfortunately, is acquiring a new internal front." And this is happening because the current Armenian administration has, in fact, joined the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem’s fight against the protection of our people’s eternal rights. For the sake of the declared peace, the administration has begun a systematic process of abandoning national goals and the protection of our vital interests and rights. And, considering them to be generating conflict, it constantly seeks to undermine the foundations of Armenian identity. In reality, however, this is an involuntary admission that the true subject of conflict between the Armenian people and the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem is none other than our Armenian identity. Simply put, the message addressed to us, as always, is this: as long as you preserve your Armenian identity, there will be no peace. And it is here that we must look for the main motive for the current administration, which seeks peace at any cost, to justify and implement a chain of concessions aimed at destroying Armenian identity,” noted Rustamyan.

He emphasized that the main mission of this historical stage for all national forces and the entire Hay Dat structure is also linked to this: breaking the chain of these nation-destroying concessions. "We are obliged to do this as a nation for the sake of our collective existence."

Indeed, today all Armenians, both in the homeland and in the diaspora, face a crisis of identity and security. These concepts are interconnected, since identity without security is indefensible, and security without identity is meaningless. We must free ourselves from the false ideas introduced by this regime, because in their value system, which glorifies consumerism, Armenians and victory have no place together. Here, the rights and interests of Armenians are replaced by the rights of the so-called true citizen of Armenia, and, in their view, they achieve success not through victory, but through defeat, and constantly boast about their defeats. Therefore, it was expected that the ARF's opposition to these authorities would deepen. "Today, it is primarily ideological and value-based. For us, the components of true identity are: our common homeland, our native language, the heritage and culture of our generations, as well as our sacred religion and beliefs. For us, true security and peace are those that are guaranteed by the collective forces of Armenians and the support of all allied countries, for which the preservation of the Armenian factor and identity in this region is no less important. The choice is: either one or the other. There is no other reality. We are here to help our people choose the right path and direction in preserving their national identity," the representative of the ARF Bureau noted.
