Russia`s Security Council: The refusal of Russian gas will be far more painful for Armenia than for European countries

ArmInfo. Refusing Russian gas will be far more painful for Armenia than for Germany or other European countries. This was stated in a comment by Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council (SC), Alexey Shevtsov, cited by TASS.

"There is no doubt that for Armenia, refusing Russian gas will be far more painful." "It will be much more painful than for Germany or other European countries," he noted, commenting on the statement by Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan that the country would purchase gas "from wherever possible."

Russian gas is significantly cheaper for Armenia than purchases from other countries, the Russian Security Council stated.

As a reminder, Armenia buys gas from Russia at $177.5 per 1,000 cubic meters. Meanwhile, the exchange price for gas in Europe in the Netherlands is approximately $875-$1,010 per 1,000 cubic meters, depending on trading fluctuations.
