The EU delegation reviewed the progress of projects under the Sustainable Syunik: Team Europe initiative

ArmInfo. Advisor to the Governor of the Syunik Province, Suren Kesedjyan, together with representatives of the EU delegation, monitored the implementation of projects within the framework of the "Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative."

According to the press service of the provincial administration, in particular, partners of the "Resilient Syunik Team Europe" initiative visited the sites of projects supported by the European Union, France, and the Netherlands: the Spandaryan Canal, the Tatev Great Desert Historical Monument, the Artsvabuyn Senior Citizens' Center in Artsvanik, and Tumo Kapan.

The report notes that the reconstruction of the Spandaryan Reservoir is financed by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs; the Franco-Armenian Fund is the implementing partner. The total budget of the project is €7 million. The first phase of the project is currently underway, with completion scheduled for early next year.

Furthermore, since 2022, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been funding research in the Tatev Great Hermitage to ensure the implementation of the restoration project. Archaeological excavations have been organized as part of this research. The improvement of pedestrian paths in the area adjacent to the monastery, including the construction of a pedestrian bridge, is also being funded.

Part of the Artsvanik 24-hour care center for the elderly was renovated and equipped as part of the EU-funded Partnership for Syunik program.

The official launch of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative was given in January 2023.
