The Pan-Armenian Council for the Preservation of the Armenian Church condemned attacks on Archbishop Pargev

ArmInfo.  The Pan-Armenian Council for the Preservation of the Armenian Church strongly condemns the insults and attempts to discredit Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan in connection with his documents concerning his residence in the United States.

"For decades, Archbishop Pargev stood with Artsakh and its people during the days of war, loss and severe hardship. This service cannot be erased by any document issued by any country. The path he has traveled attests to the patriotism of the man.

While undergoing treatment in the United States, the Archbishop continues to speak about Artsakh, appeal to American legislators and draw international attention to the need to protect Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage.  His health problems did not prevent him from fulfilling his duty," the statement by the Pan-Armenian Council for the Preservation of the Armenian Church says.

The statement adds that a person who has devoted his life to the Homeland cannot be required to give up the right to preserve his own life.

"The right to criticize is not the right to humiliate. A person is not obliged to make the history of his illness public in order to defend himself against insults. We demand an end to speculation about the bishop's personality, health and documents. We express our support for him and wish him continued service to Artsakh. It is also our duty to protect the dignity of those who stood with our people in the most difficult days," the statement by the Pan-Armenian Council for the Preservation of the Armenian Church says.
