An MP from the opposition “Strong Armenia” faction views the people of Artsakh as a victorious people, not as a people brought to their knees

ArmInfo.  Armenian National Assembly deputy from the opposition “Strong Armenia” faction Arega Hovsepyan views the people of Artsakh as a victorious people, rather than as a people brought to their knees.

Speaking to journalists on September 19 at the “Yerablur” military burial memorial complex, the parliamentarian noted that today is a day of mourning for the Armenian people, as those heroes who defended their homeland to the last bullet are no longer with us, since they knew there was nowhere left to retreat. “We came here to commemorate them, to tell them: regardless of what some people say both inside and outside the country, we owe them a debt,” Arega Hovsepyan said.

She added that today the people of Artsakh are facing numerous problems, due to which many of them no longer know which doors to knock on.  It appears that the Armenian authorities are pursuing a policy aimed at the forced emigration of the people of Artsakh amid the absence of necessary state support.

In the parliamentarian’s opinion, this attitude constitutes a deliberate state policy aimed at forcing the people of Artsakh to leave Armenia, since if there are no Artsakh Armenians, there is no problem. Hovsepyan noted that the faction will continue to raise their problems in the commissions, while also proposing specific support measures. She accused the country’s authorities of failing to properly respond to the vandalism of Armenian cultural and religious monuments by Azerbaijani rulers.
