“Strong Armenia”: Samvel Karapetyan has been deprived of his liberty for about 450 days

Arminfo.  The leader of the “Strong Armenia” bloc, businessman Samvel Karapetyan, has been deprived of his freedom for about 450 days. This is stated in a statement by “Strong Armenia.”

The political force recalled that today, September 17, at 15:30, a court hearing in Samvel Karapetyan’s case will be held at Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court.

“The court will consider the issue of applying a preventive measure against him. Samvel Karapetyan has been deprived of his freedom for about 450 days. After all, what is preventing Samvel Karapetyan’s release and, most importantly, what role does the Azerbaijani factor play in this process? These are questions that must be asked openly and publicly, rather than remaining at the level of political speculation. The law cannot be selective. Justice cannot depend on political interests. I hope that today it will not be politics but the law that prevails. Freedom for Samvel Karapetyan.  Justice for Armenia,” the statement by “Strong Armenia” says.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported the completion of the investigation into the criminal case launched against the businessman on charges of tax evasion, money laundering, and embezzlement of property on an especially large scale.  He is also charged with calls to seize power.

It should be recalled that the businessman was arrested in June 2025 after making statements in defense of the Armenian Church. In December last year, the preventive measure against Samvel Karapetyan was changed to house arrest and has since been extended several times.
