AMD 39 million will be allocated from the government’s Reserve Fund to pay the judges of Armenia’s Constitutional Court.

Arminfo. Nearly 39 million drams will be allocated from the Government’s Reserve Fund to remunerate the judges of Armenia’s Constitutional Court. The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on September 17.

The justification for the draft decision emphasizes that matters concerning the remuneration of Constitutional Court judges are regulated by the law “On Remuneration of Persons Holding State”. In order to ensure remuneration commensurate with the status and responsibility of the chairman of the Constitutional Court, his deputy and the judges of the Constitutional Court, an allowance is предусмотрена. In particular, an allowance for length of service as a judge has been established in the following amounts:

- in the second year of work — 20 percent of the salary,

- in the third year — 35 percent of the salary; in each subsequent year, starting from the fourth year, — 10 percent more than the allowance предусмотренная for the previous year

In addition, when calculating the supplementary payment, the full length of service as a Constitutional Court judge as of the date the law enters into force will be taken into account. To calculate the established supplementary payments, the Constitutional Court’s budget for the 2026 financial year provides for additional funding of 38,930.5 thousand drams, which was allocated.

Adoption of this draft decision will make it possible to make additional payments to Constitutional Court judges.

For 2026, an additional payment of 46 million 775 thousand 40 drams is expected, depending on the length of service of the chairman, deputy chairman and seven Constitutional Court judges in these positions, which constitutes an additional expenditure obligation.

It should be noted that Constitutional Court judges in Armenia are elected for 12 years; consequently, their salaries will increase 11 times. Currently, judges starting from their second year in office already receive an additional payment amounting to 20% of their salary. Now they will also receive a length-of-service allowance. For example, a Constitutional Court judge who has worked for 4 years will receive 400 thousand drams more than before.
