Armenian passport mobility index falls to 79 points — Passport Reports report

ArmInfo.  Armenia ranks 53rd among 199 countries in terms of the accessibility of entry for foreign citizens, while the ranking of the Armenian passport itself worldwide stands at 114th. This is evidenced by data from the American analytical platform Passport Reports received by ArmInfo for September 2026.

According to the source, these two indicators reflect opposite directions:  the first concerns the conditions for entering Armenia with foreign passports, while the second concerns the accessibility of travel to other countries with an Armenian passport. "The mobility index of the Armenian passport is 79 points, while global accessibility is 39.9%. The report classifies 33 destinations as visa-free, 42 as accessible with a visa on arrival or under simplified entry conditions, 4 under an electronic travel authorization (eTA), while 119 destinations require obtaining a visa in advance. The sum of visa-free destinations, visas on arrival (or simplified entry) and eTA produces the final mobility score of 79 points," the report explains.

At the same time, attention is drawn to the fact that the mobility indicator has declined over the past two years. In particular, annual statistics show that the mobility index of the Armenian passport reached 84 points in 2024, stood at 81 points in 2025, and 79 points in 2026. "In the global ranking, the passport held 107th place in 2024 and 2025, while in 2026 it fell to 114th. In 2020, which the report identifies as the year affected by COVID-19, the mobility indicator was 57, while the global ranking was 113th. In 2021, the figures were 71 and 106th place, in 2022 - 80 and 112th, and in 2023 - 82 and 111th. The picture for 2026 simultaneously shows 79 destinations with simplified access and 119 destinations where obtaining a visa in advance is required. In the regional data, the highest coverage was recorded in Central Asia - 80.0%, while in Europe accessibility is limited to 14.9%," the report added.

Regarding accessibility in Central Asia, the report notes that four of the five destinations in Central Asia are available to Armenian passport holders without a visa, providing an overall regional accessibility level of 80%. "Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan fall into the visa-free category, while a visa is required to visit Turkmenistan. In the case of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, the maximum length of stay is 90 days. The overall accessibility level across the entire Asian region is 55.1%. Thirteen destinations are available without a visa, another 13 with a visa on arrival or under simplified entry conditions, 1 under an eTA, while 22 destinations require a visa," the passport report notes.

In Europe, according to the source, overall accessibility stands at 14.9%: 6 destinations are visa-free, Turkey is accessible with a visa on arrival or under similar simplified conditions, while a visa is required for 40 European destinations. "As for other regions, overall accessibility stands at: 56.3% in the Caribbean, 52.9% in the Middle East, 50.0% in Africa, South America and the Gulf countries, 39.1% in North America, and 28.6% in Oceania. Examples of lengthy visa-free stays include Georgia - 360 days, Antigua and Barbuda - 180 days, while a number of destinations, including Argentina, the UAE, Brazil, China, Iran and Russia, allow stays of up to 90 days," the statement says.

In the "hospitality" ranking, as noted by Passport Reports, Armenia ranks 53rd, reflecting the ease of entering the country for holders of foreign passports and to be considered separately from the mobility of the Armenian passport itself.  It is explained that the visa requirements for entry into Armenia in the report concern specifically the conditions for foreign citizens crossing the border. "As for reciprocity indicators, Germany, the United States, France and Japan are among the countries whose citizens may enter Armenia without a visa, with electronic authorization or with a visa on arrival, while Armenian passport holders require a visa for these destinations. In the opposite direction, Rwanda, Kenya and Sri Lanka are included on the list of countries whose citizens require a visa to enter Armenia, while these destinations are available to Armenian passport holders without a visa, with an eTA, visa on arrival or through other simplified procedures," the report says.
