A CIS film festival will be held in Meghri.

ArmInfo. As part of the events titled "Meghri - Cultural Capital of the CIS 2026," the CIS Film Festival will be held in Meghri from September 18 to 20.

The goal of the festival is to promote professional and creative collaboration between young filmmakers from Armenia and the CIS countries, the exchange of experience, the strengthening of intercultural ties, and the development of joint film projects. Special attention will be paid to the potential application of new technologies and artificial intelligence in contemporary cinema.

The film festival's competition program includes 30 short feature films, 14 of which represent the CIS countries (the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan), and the remaining 16 represent Armenia.

The best works in the festival's competition program will be judged by a professional jury.

Awards will be presented in the following categories: Best Film, Best Director, Special Jury Prize, and Special Jury Mention.

The film festival will also feature panel discussions on the possibilities of developing co-production and the influence of artificial intelligence on contemporary cinema. In addition, retrospective screenings of films by CIS filmmakers are planned, allowing viewers to explore important chapters in the history of regional cinema and the classical language of cinema.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MECS), the opening ceremony of the CIS Film Festival will take place on September 18 at 6:00 PM at the Meghri Sports and Cultural Center.

Film screenings, professional, and cultural events will be held on September 19-20, as well as the closing ceremony at the Loft-Meghri Youth Center.

Admission to all festival events is free.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.

The film festival is organized by the Arm Film Industry Development Cultural Foundation.
