Samvel Karapetyan: ESA will be returned to its rightful owner

ArmInfo.  CJSC "Electric Networks of Armenia" (ENA) will be returned to its rightful owner. Strong Armenia bloc leader and businessman Samvel Karapetyan stated this on September 11 in a conversation with journalists ahead of another court hearing.

He expressed the conviction that the current authorities would be unable to do anything on this matter. "They have already realized that they cannot manage ENA, so they are trying to find someone who can. But these people already exist. They will come and manage ENA," Karapetyan stated.

The politician is convinced that the authorities will not be able to sell ENA's assets to foreign capital owners. To do this, Karapetyan noted, they must first be able to take them over. "And if we want to, we will be able to sell them. But we are not going to do that," stated the leader of the Strong Armenia bloc.

Overall, Karapetyan expressed the conviction that ENA would not be sold. "They have simply stretched out this process until next year. But the day will come, and there will be prosperity," he noted.

Asked whether he was ready to sell ENA for the price offered by the Armenian government, Karapetyan stated that he does not sell his company.

Karapetyan also responded to statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that "gas in Armenia is not cheap even now," and that the country should diversify its markets. On this matter, the politician noted that Armenia currently has no such opportunities. "Pashinyan may have such opportunities, but Armenia does not," Karapetyan concluded.

It should be noted that on September 9, the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure submitted for public discussion on the e-draft.am platform a draft government resolution "On Recognizing the Public's Preemptive Right to 100% of the Shares of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Electric Networks of Armenia." The document notes that the Armenian government intends to nationalize Samvel Karapetyan's CJSC "Electric Networks of Armenia" by October 1, 2027, for 20.7 billion drams (approximately $56.7 million). It should be added that the Armenian government initiated the nationalization of Karapetyan's company in July 2025, after the businessman publicly stood up for the Armenian Apostolic Church.
