ArmInfo. At the meeting of the RA National Assembly Commission on Defense and Security held on September 11, a deputy chair of the commission was elected.
He was Vaginak Vardanov from the opposition bloc "Strong Armenia," who, incidentally, is the son of former intelligence officer and militiaman Vova Vartanov. In his speech, the opposition member called for the commission to work cohesively and without interruption. He noted that the opposition does not intend to avoid important problems, raising the most inconvenient issues. Nevertheless,
according to Vardanov, the commission’s work should be guided by the principle that Armenia’s interests are above any party and personal interests.
It should be noted that another commission—the Commission on State and Legal Affairs—was unable to elect a deputy chair because the "Strong Armenia" bloc did not nominate a candidate.
