Armed Forces of Armenia Delegation Learns About the Capabilities of the Indian Air Force

Arminfo.  A delegation of the Armed Forces of Armenia, headed by Major General Alexander Tsakanyan, visited an Indian Air Force (IAF) base within the IAF’s Western Air Command.

As reported in a publication by the Indian Air Force on Twitter (X), the delegation toured operational and maintenance facilities. "The visit strengthened military interaction, promoted mutual understanding, knowledge exchange and operational compatibility. It also reaffirmed the strong defense ties between India and Armenia and contributed to strengthening defense cooperation," the publication said.

Earlier, Indian media reported that Armenia was among the three largest buyers of Indian defense products, along with the United States and France.

Over the past four years, Armenia has concluded several deals with India to purchase missiles, artillery pieces, missile systems, radars, bulletproof vests and night-vision devices, as well as a wide range of ammunition and artillery shells. Moreover, Armenia became the first foreign buyer of the Indian-developed Akash air defense system.  At the end of September 2022, Armenia signed a contract worth more than $250 million to purchase weapons from India, including Indian 214 mm Pinaka multiple launch rocket systems and rockets for them, unnamed anti-tank missile systems and various types of ammunition.

Already in the fall of 2023, Indian Defence Research Wing reported that in early August, Indian defense company Bharat Forge LTD had delivered six towed 155-mm ATAGS howitzers to Armenia under a $155.5 million contract. The deal provided for the delivery of 90 artillery pieces of this type to Armenia over three years.
