ArmInfo. With the support of the Karapetyan Foundation, the Armenian choirs Saghmosergu and Geghard took part in an exceptional spiritual and cultural program in Italy. On September 8, as part of the celebrations dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Abbot Mkhitar, on the island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni (San Lazzaro degli Armeni), on the occasion of the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the anniversary of the founding of the Mekhitarist Congregation, choral groups from Armenia participated in the thanksgiving Holy and Immortal Liturgy.
The event was attended by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Venice, Gagik Sarukhanyan, representatives of the Armenian community, and numerous Italian guests.
And it was here that the Saghmosergu choirs and Geghard performed the chants of the Liturgy of Vardapet Komitas, arranged for a mixed ensemble, for the first time during the Holy Liturgy. However, the program did not end there. On September 12, Komitas's Liturgy, written for a mixed ensemble, will be performed during the Holy Liturgy at the famous Patriarchal Basilica of St. Mark in Venice, and on September 13, the choirs of Saghmosergu and Geghard will perform a major concert of Armenian sacred and secular music in Padua.
