ArmInfo. Armenia is not preparing to leave the EAEU, at least not at this stage. Sargis Khandanyan, a member of parliament from the Civil Contract party and head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, told reporters this during a briefing on September 9.

He recalled that, according to the EAEU Charter, a country must notify six months in advance of its decision to leave the organization. "And we obviously do not intend to make such a request in December. Moreover, there are no discussions on leaving the EAEU. We continue to be a full member of the EAEU and fulfill our obligations within the organization," the head of the parliamentary committee noted.

Speaking about the restrictions imposed by the Russian side on Armenian products, the MP said that negotiations with Russia are ongoing. However, he noted that the latter have a political subtext. "And this must be resolved through negotiations and discussions," Khandanyan said, emphasizing that Armenia does not want to enter into confrontation with Russia.

The MP noted that the Armenian side is trying to study the depth of the problem to determine which products specifically do not meet standards. "However, it is impossible for all Armenian products to simultaneously fail to meet EAEU standards. This is not consistent with the friendly relations between Armenia and Russia or with state interests. Moreover, it violates the very essence of the EAEU, as this union is about the free movement of goods and services." " the parliamentarian said.

Regarding relations with the EU, he noted that Armenia will continue to raise standards to open European markets to our producers.

"And if our standards reach the required level, and the corresponding political processes and negotiations take place, then we will make a decision, recognizing that membership in the EAEU and the EU are mutually exclusive," Khandanyan noted.
