Former MP: Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities are not much different from each other

ArmInfo. What are the differences between the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities? Former member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Abrahamyan asked this question.

Basically, according to him, they are not that different. In Baku, Armenians wearing Christian symbols are tortured, while in Armenia, spiritual fathers are tortured for speaking the truth and defending the Armenian Apostolic Church and its values. According to Abrahamyan, the authorities are using various measures of pressure against the Catholicos of All Armenians, bishops, and the clergy as a whole—from arrests to smear campaigns—which, in their inherent danger and harmfulness, are little different from the Azerbaijani practice of destroying churches, monuments, khachkars, and violence against people for being Christians.

"This is a joint operation by Aliyev and Pashinyan against the Armenian value system, Armenian identity, and viability," the former MP wrote on his Facebook page.
