"Erevantrans" will be liquidated

ArmInfo. The Yerevan City Council has decided to liquidate Yerevantrans CJSC.

As Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan noted during the meeting, this is essentially a logical continuation of the creation of the municipal institution, the Yerevan Traffic Management Center.

The initiative aims to make more effective, data-driven decisions in traffic and public transportation management in Yerevan.

He noted that a unified data warehouse has been created, the volume and scope of which will be constantly expanded. For this purpose, appropriate CCTV cameras will be installed in Yerevan.

The cameras are planned to count traffic flows at different times of day and in different months of the year. A near-complete inventory of Yerevan's traffic light infrastructure has been completed; it does not fully meet modern requirements and is in need of significant modernization. The creation of a new traffic light infrastructure is planned.

The logic that Yerevan authorities adhere to in this matter is that public transport should be the primary means of rapid movement. To ensure its rapid movement, two main areas are being implemented: the creation of additional dedicated bus lanes and the acquisition of additional rolling stock, the Deputy Mayor noted. As noted during the Council of Elders meeting, the residual value of the property of Yerevantrans CJSC; amounted to 150.2 million drams.

Some employees, according to Grigoryan, were transferred to work at the Traffic Control Center. "In Yerevan, the reorganization of departments is always accompanied by the fact that, according to the Labor Code, employees are offered alternative work if their competencies and work experience meet the new requirements," he said.
