ArmInfo. The Strong Armenia opposition faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has nominated Ruben Mkhitaryan for the position of Chairman of the NA Committee on Territorial Administration and Environmental Protection.

"In accordance with Article 8, Part 1, Clause 5, and Article 138, Parts 1 and 2 of the Constitutional Law 'Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly,' the Strong Armenia faction has nominated Ruben Mkhitaryan as a candidate for the position of Chairman of the Committee on Territorial Administration and Environmental Protection," NA Speaker Ruben Rubinyan said in a statement.

It should be noted that this post is reserved for the opposition faction that received the most votes, in this case, the Strong Armenia faction. Previously, MPs David Kazinyan and Irina Yolyan were nominated for this post, but the ruling Civil Contract faction voted against their candidacies. The next attempt, this time related to the election of Mkhitaryan as head of the commission, will be made at a plenary session of parliament.
