ArmInfo. In Goris, a first-degree disabled woman who has been bedridden for 50 years has been deprived of her benefits under the pretext of her "security." This is according to Irina Yolyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the Strong Armenia opposition faction.

"72-year-old Karina Mananyan lives in a separate room in her father's house in Goris, separate from her brother's family. This woman, who lives alone, is effectively a first-degree disabled woman and has been bedridden for about 50 years. Karina's only income is a pension of 52,000 drams." "As a result of a social assessment, she was deprived of benefits, effectively assuming that her social situation wasn't that difficult and she didn't need state support," the deputy said.

According to her, how this bedridden woman with a first-degree disability ended up among the "well-off" remains to be seen.

"But the most absurd part is yet to come. To restore her benefits, Karina must resolve the inheritance issue, contact a notary, submit the necessary documents, and go through all the procedures established by the state system. There's just one "small" problem: Karina can't get out of bed. In other words, on the one hand, the state is depriving her of social support, and on the other, it's demanding that she perform actions that are physically impossible for her. "Is this the very humanistic and social state that government officials talk about every day?" Yolyan asked.

The opposition member added that if a 72-year-old bedridden, first-degree disabled person is considered "well-off" by today's government standards, then who is truly disadvantaged?

"Karine Mananyan lives in Goris, at 32 Mamikonyan Street. I call on the responsible authorities to review the case, examine the situation, and immediately resolve her issue in accordance with the law. I will personally be consistent in resolving this issue," the MP wrote on her Facebook page.
