Armenia and Latvia aligned their watches on the bilateral cooperation agenda

ArmInfo. Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan and Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa expressed their readiness at a meeting in Riga on September 7 to develop cooperation in areas important for the sustainable development of both countries, including the economy and energy.

As reported by the press service of Armenia’s foreign ministry, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the growing momentum in the development of relations between Armenia and Latvia.

The meeting also emphasized the continuity of active cooperation between the friendship groups in the parliaments of Armenia and Latvia, as well as the importance of the parliamentary platform for the consistent development of cooperation in the Armenia-Northern Europe-Baltic States (NB8) format.

The interlocutors also touched upon the strategic agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership.  Among other things, particular attention was paid to making the best use of existing mechanisms to strengthen the economic resilience of the Republic of Armenia.

The sides also exchanged views on the dynamically changing regional realities.  "The establishment of peace has created unprecedented opportunities for developing regional connectivity, and Armenia is making every effort to develop a number of infrastructure facilities and effectively realize these opportunities," Mirzoyan noted. Views were exchanged on issues related to the further institutionalization of peace. Humanitarian issues were also discussed.
