Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Vahagn Aleksanyan stated this on September 7 while receiving Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Armenia Andrea Barbara Baumann at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, as quoted by the National Assembly press service, both countries adhere to the parliamentary form of government, and Yerevan highly values Switzerland's commitment and experience in parliamentary governance.
The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, noting the development of relations between Armenia and Switzerland at various levels, noted the special role of parliamentary friendship groups in this context.
During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of dynamically developing relations between the friendship groups.
At the Ambassador's request, Vahagn Aleksanyan addressed the issue of cooperation between the parliamentary majority and opposition factions, and also outlined the priorities of the Civil Contract faction. The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized the importance of parliamentary oversight in the fight against corruption. Reform of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia was also identified as a priority.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to bilateral relations between Armenia and Switzerland.
The agenda for relations between Armenia and the EU was also discussed.
