In Armenia, a group of citizens sold meat using forged documents

During the preliminary investigation of a criminal case, the RA Investigative Committee obtained factual evidence indicating that in 2022, a group of individuals engaged in the purchase and sale of meat products received counterfeit veterinary certificates from another individual engaged in illegal entrepreneurial activity, according to which the cattle allegedly passed a veterinary and sanitary inspection at a slaughterhouse and were purchased from the same slaughterhouse. The counterfeit certificates were then used to sell the said meat products.

By decision of the supervisory prosecutor, a criminal case was opened against these individuals under Part 1 of Article 457 of the Criminal Code (sale, production, or use of counterfeit documents). A decision was later made to discontinue the criminal prosecution against one of the participants in the crime due to his death. He was charged with selling, producing, and using counterfeit documents (10 counts) and illegal entrepreneurial activity (8 counts).

The criminal case was transferred to the supervisory authority along with the indictment.
