A preliminary investigation has been completed against five individuals who attempted to smuggle drugs into Armenia

ArmInfo. The preliminary investigation into five individuals who attempted to smuggle drugs into Armenia in their stomachs has been completed. This was reported by the RA Investigative Committee.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, clear factual evidence was obtained indicating that on April 30, 2026, three foreign citizens, as part of a group of individuals, illegally transported numerous plastic bags containing a total of 367.52 grams of heroin in their stomachs across the state border of the Republic of Armenia for mercenary motives.

Simultaneously, two citizens of the Republic of Armenia facilitated the smuggling of the specified type and quantity of drugs into the Republic of Armenia, promising in advance to purchase and sell them. During this process, they arranged for the reception of foreign citizens, payment for the transportation of particularly large quantities of drugs, the removal of drug bags from their stomachs, and their purchase for sale. However, along the way  They were detained on a section of the Yeghegnadzor highway and transferred to the agency handling the case.

By decision of the supervising prosecutor, a criminal case was initiated against three foreign citizens under Article 399, Part 3, Clause 2 (drug smuggling in especially large quantities) and Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 (illegal drug trafficking in especially large quantities for the purpose of sale) of the Criminal Code, as well as against two citizens of the Republic of Armenia under Article 46-399, Part 3, Clause 2 (facilitating drug smuggling in especially large quantities) and Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 (illegal drug trafficking in especially large quantities for the purpose of sale).

Four of them were arrested, one was released on bail and with a restraining order.

The criminal case against five individuals was transferred to the supervising prosecutor, with the indictment act.
