ArmInfo. On September 2, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Artsakh, a prayer for peace was held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
As reported to ArmInfo by the press office of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), the congregation of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the people present prayed to God for the steadfastness and safety of the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh, for the speedy release of the Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku and the political leadership of Artsakh taken hostage, as well as for the peace and well-being of the Armenian people. "At the conclusion of the service, a prayer was also offered for the repose of the souls of the brave sons of the Armenian people who fell in the wars for Artsakh," the AAC summarized.
As a reminder, on September 2, 1991, based on the USSR Law "On the Procedure for Resolving Issues Related to the Secession of a Union Republic from the USSR," a joint session of deputies from all levels of the NKAO and the Shahumyan region proclaimed the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
