"Strong Armenia": Pashinyan admitted in Bishkek that the force he leads is seeking to prevent a possible referendum on Armenia`s EU membership.

ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in essence, stated in Bishkek that the forces he leads are seeking to prevent a possible referendum on the country's EU membership. Marianna Kahramanyan, a member of parliament from the Strong Armenia faction, commented on the Armenian prime minister's statement that the Armenian authorities adopted the law on EU accession to avoid holding a referendum.

Khahramanyan noted that the Armenian prime minister stated at a meeting with Putin that if the Armenian National Assembly had not passed the law on the EU accession process, civil society would have collected the necessary votes to hold a referendum. He admitted that the Armenian authorities, by adopting the law, had effectively abandoned the idea of a referendum.

"With this statement, Nikol Pashinyan essentially admits that his government has deceived and continues to deceive the public on this issue. This is all an Armenian citizen needs to know about the European agenda of the Civil Contract," the MP noted.

It should be noted that on January 9, 2025, the Armenian government approved a draft law on the start of the process of joining the European Union, proposed by the civic initiative "Eurakve." The draft was sent to the Armenian parliament for approval. On March 26, the parliament adopted it in its final reading and sent it to the president for signature. The document was signed on April 4 of that year. Moscow stated that Russia had conveyed to Armenia that simultaneous membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union was impossible.
