Knowledge Day is celebrated in Armenia

ArmInfo. September 1st is Knowledge Day in Armenia. This is the day when the new academic year officially begins in all schools and higher education institutions.

On the occasion of Knowledge, Literacy, and Education Day, His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, delivered a message. In it, His Holiness extended his blessing to students and teachers, as well as to all those serving in the field of education. "Education enlightens the human mind and soul, creates and shapes the individual, providing them with knowledge that meets the demands and challenges of modern times, so that through their service they can contribute to the development and well-being of life." "Education opens the path to knowledge of God, while simultaneously nourishing the worthy sons of our people with enduring national and spiritual values and nurturing conscious and responsible citizens," reads the Catholicos's message, published by the press office of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin.

Garegin II wished strength and fortitude to all those dedicated to education, so that through responsible and praiseworthy service they can strengthen the students' desire for knowledge and learning, affirming and strengthening their patriotic spirit, love for their people, and devotion to their homeland. "To you, dear schoolchildren and students, we wish diligence and perseverance, so that, by attaining the good fruits of knowledge, you can honestly and worthily serve our country and our people and bring joy to your families. 'Wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul,'" the Holy Scriptures instruct. "May God, under the protection of His Holy Right Hand, preserve our Homeland in peace and bestow His abundant blessing upon all our people scattered throughout the world, that He may preserve and strengthen them now and forevermore. Amen," remarked Garegin II.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MSC) of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, also delivered a message from the Vardges Petrosyan Gegharkunik Regional Library. She recalled that the new academic year has been declared the Year of Reading. "Because reading is one of the most important components of a quality education for our children, it must be encouraged in a variety of ways. And one of these ways is visiting libraries. "That's why we're at the Gegharkunik Regional Library today, where, in addition to reading books, you can learn about ancient writing and the history of our printing press," the minister noted.

Andreasyan expressed hope that the Year of Reading will be a year in which schoolchildren will read a lot and discover new places to do so. "Congratulations on September 1st," the head of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture concluded.
