RA Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes making training mandatory  step in obtaining driver`s license

ArmInfo.  The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Armenia has submitted for discussion a package of bills proposing to make training a mandatory step in  obtaining a driver's license.

As reported to ArmInfo by the ministry's press service, this proposal  is aimed at improving driving skills and fostering a culture of road  safety. "Training will be the first mandatory step. Thus,  participation in the theoretical exam for a driver's license will  only be possible after completing the appropriate training. To ensure  quality training standards, only organizations and individual  entrepreneurs that meet the established requirements and hold the  appropriate license will be authorized to train future drivers," the  Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The proposed package of bills, according to the ministry, also  provides for a qualification system for those providing driving  instruction, with the aim of ensuring their professionalism and  continuously improving the quality of instruction. Additionally, the  Ministry announced an initiative to introduce a rating system, which  will evaluate organizations and individual entrepreneurs providing  driving training. This, according to the source, will allow citizens  to make more informed choices and will provide incentives for  training providers to continually improve the quality of their  services.

"Therefore, when obtaining a driver's license, the key factor is not  only the exam, but also high-quality training, which helps develop  knowledge and skills for safe driving, so as to prevent road  fatalities," the Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded.
