Opposition figure calls on Armenian authorities to explain what  Pashinyan and Aliyev discussed in Abu Dhabi in July 2025

ArmInfo.  In 2015, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had an understanding of what parliament was and what status a member of parliament had, whereas today he has  taken it upon himself to decide who should be in parliament and who  should be imprisoned. Edgar Ghazaryan, a member of the National  Assembly of Armenia from the opposition "Strong Armenia" faction,  stated this during his speech at a parliamentary session on August  27.

In particular, he recalled how Pashinyan, who was a member of  parliament in 2015, stated that "the government cannot speak to  members of parliament by pointing an index finger at them." "If you  continue to behave like this, you'll feel the need for a psychologist  every time you come here," Ghazaryan cited one part of Pashinyan's  2015 speech as an example.

"It turns out that at that time, the prime minister had an  understanding of the importance of the National Assembly, the status  of an MP, and anyone else in parliament. Meanwhile, today, he decides  who should be in the parliamentary hall or the corridor, gives  instructions from the parliamentary rostrum, threatens to 'bend over'  his opponents, and detains MPs and their family members," the MP  noted.

The opposition leader then recalled the prime minister's actions,  which also contradicted his past statements. In particular, he  recalled trips and photographs taken in Artsakh, and how on the  birthday of Azerbaijani Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, the  authorities surrendered Berdzor to Azerbaijan (August 26, 2022 -  ed.), and a couple of days ago on the same day, the Prime Minister  gave the order to deprive the only free president of Artsakh (we are  talking about the first president of Artsakh, the second president of  Armenia Robert Kocharyan - ed.), and to invite former presidents of  Armenia, who were once awarded the title of Hero of Artsakh, to the  Investigative Committee (IC). "There is a separate case against the  military- political leadership of Artsakh, which is in Azerbaijani  captivity. The defendants include former Armenian presidents,  Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan, Hero of Artsakh Monte Melkonyan, and  figures who made significant contributions to the Artsakh Liberation  War. And not only them.

It turns out, we all are. But don't all these accusations brought  against the military-political leadership of Artsakh also apply to  Pashinyan?" Kazaryan asked.

Finally, he noted that the Armenian people still don't know what  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President  Ilham Aliyev discussed in Abu Dhabi (July 9-10, 2025 - ed.) after  their meeting in Istanbul with the Turkish president and before their  trip to Washington. "What this meeting was about is a secret. But its  essence is reflected in the government's program for 2026-2031, which  the ruling party voted in favor of. And in doing so, it assumed  responsibility, the consequences of which we will be pondering for a  long time. However, with these persecutions and illegal actions, the  authorities will not be able to move forward. All of Aliyev's  programs will fail, and we will not allow our country to be  'numbered.' We have only one state-the Republic of Armenia," the MP  concluded.
