Official Yerevan expresses condolences to Nepal and China over loss  of life in floods

ArmInfo. The Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the Chinese and Nepalese Foreign Ministries over the loss of life in the floods and the widespread  destruction.

"Deeply saddened by the news of the horrible flash floods that struck  Nepal and China, causing so many fatalities and devastation. Sincere  condolences to the families of all the victims, with prayers for the  swift recovery of all those affected," the Armenian Foreign Ministry  stated on X.

The previous day, the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that it  had no information about any Armenian citizens among the missing.

According to media reports, 165 people have been officially confirmed  dead as a result of a mudslide and flooding on the Nepal-Tibet  border. According to reports, on August 26, a mass of mud and rocks  fell into the Bhotekoshi River on the Himalayan border between the  two countries, triggering a flash flood. The flood swept away homes,  roads, bridges, and border crossings. According to the latest figures  from the Nepal Disaster Management Agency, 823 people are still  missing on the Nepalese side. A search is underway in China for 558  people. The two governments' figures do not match.

According to the Nepalese Ministry of Tourism, at least 403 tourists,  341 of whom were foreigners, were listed as missing in the first  hours after the tragedy. Among them are 142 Indian citizens, 47 US  citizens, 34 Australians, 33 British citizens, and 24 Canadians, as  well as citizens of South Korea, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Portugal,  South Africa, Russia, and Ukraine. In addition, the whereabouts of 28  Nepalese police officers are unknown.
