
ArmInfo. Former Rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography, Professor, and People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Hrachya Gasparyan has passed away at the age of 80. The press service of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography reported this.
The Institute expressed its deepest condolences to the Master's family, relatives, and colleagues and commemorated his significant contribution to the development of arts education and Armenian theater. "Through his many years of teaching and creative work, Gasparyan left a significant mark on the lives of many generations - with his knowledge, high professional skill, and human warmth. He dedicated his entire life to art. The path he traversed, the creative legacy, and the values he passed on to his students will live on for many years to come, continuing to preserve the memory of the great Master. Gasparyan's achievements and memory will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues, students, art lovers, and all who knew him," the Yerevan State Institute emphasized.
Gasparyan was born on January 13, 1946, in Alaverdi. He graduated from the Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts in 1972. From 1972 to 1974, he worked at the Leninakan Drama Theater, and from 1974 to 1992, he worked as a director at the K. Stanislavsky Yerevan State Russian Drama Theater. Since 1992, Gaparyan worked as a director at the Yerevan State National Theater named after S. Sargsyan, and since 1993 as its chief director. He taught at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography since 1976. In 1998, he became the vice-rector of the Yerevan State Institute, and from 2006 to 2011, he served as its rector. He has staged productions at the Odessa Drama Theater and the Yerevan Puppet Theater.
