Armenian authorities do not give any instructions to judges - MP

ArmInfo. Sona Ghazaryan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the Armenian National Assembly, insists that the Armenian authorities do not give any  instructions to judges.

In an interview with journalists on August 26, the MP emphasized that  the law enforcement system must act independently.

According to her, the authorities have been talking about the illegal  assets of former officials for years, and the current trials are not  unexpected. "The law enforcement system should not be guided by  election cycles and political statements," Ghazaryan said, adding  that the government has spent years creating the necessary  legislative and institutional framework for investigating cases of  illegal assets. "Over the past seven or eight years, we've created  all the institutions, every possible institution, so today the courts  operate without any instructions. We don't summon judges or give them  any instructions," the ruling party MP emphasized.

She also noted that proceedings concerning illicitly acquired  property must apply to everyone without exception. "The legal system  must fulfill its mission at a high level, investigate cases, and  prosecute everyone involved in illicit enrichment," Kazaryan noted.
